Purpose of this Privacy Policy
BabylonGame (‘BabylonGame’ or ‘we’) runs Babylons, a free browser-based strategy game, together with
its web pages and companion Android app (‘BabylonGame services’). This Privacy Policy explains which
personal data we process when you use BabylonGame services, why we do it, how long we keep it and
which rights you have. Our approach is simple: we collect as little as possible. The only personal
data we store about you are your email address, your IP addresses and whether you
opened our promotional emails.
1. Data controller
The data controller responsible for processing personal data is BabylonGame (babylons.eu). For any
question, request or complaint regarding your data or this Privacy Policy you can contact us by email
at support@babylons.eu or via WhatsApp at +393780825926.
2. Legal basis
We process personal data in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (‘GDPR’) and
other applicable data protection laws. Depending on the purpose, processing is based on the
performance of the user agreement with you (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)), on our legitimate interests in
running a secure and fair game (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)) or on legal obligations we are subject to
(GDPR Article 6(1)(c)).
3. What personal data we store
3.1 Email address
An email address is required to register an account. We use it to send you service messages
(account activation, password recovery and notifications related to your account) and, as a
player of our game, promotional emails announcing the opening of new game servers. Every
promotional email contains an unsubscribe link: one click is enough to stop receiving them, free of
charge, without affecting your account or the service messages. We never sell or share your
email address with third parties for their own marketing.
3.2 IP addresses
When you register and each time you log in, we record the IP address of your connection together
with the time of access. We use this information exclusively to protect the game: detecting
suspicious logins, preventing cyberattacks and enforcing the rules of the game, in particular the
ban on multiple accounts (multi-accounting).
3.3 Promotional email opens
Our promotional emails contain a tiny invisible image (a ‘tracking pixel’) with a link unique to
your email address. When your email program loads the images of the message, it requests this image
from our server and we record that the email was opened: how many times, and the date of the first
and last opening. We do not record your IP address, your device or your location for this purpose.
We use this information only to measure how many players read our announcements and to improve
them, based on our legitimate interest (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). The counter is reset every time we
send a new promotional email and is deleted together with your email address when you unsubscribe.
If you do not want opens to be recorded, you can turn off automatic image loading in your email
program, unsubscribe, or object by contacting us (section 9). Service messages, such as password
recovery, contain no tracking pixel.
3.4 What we do NOT store
We do not ask for, and do not store, your real name, date of birth, postal address, telephone
number or any other identifying information. Your account is identified by a pseudonym (your
username) that you choose freely.
4. Game data
While you play, the game naturally generates data linked to your account, such as your username,
your villages, troops, alliances, reports, in-game and chat messages and your statistics. This is
game content tied to a pseudonym, not personal data about you as a person. Parts of it (for example
rankings, player profiles and alliance pages) are publicly visible to other players, as is usual in
this kind of game. Avoid writing personal information about yourself in public profiles or messages.
5. Cookies and statistics
5.1 Technical cookies
We only use cookies that are needed for the site to work: a session cookie to keep you logged in,
a cookie remembering your username on the login form, a cookie storing your preferred language and
a random technical identifier used, together with a hash of your browser's technical headers, to
detect multiple accounts and protect the fairness of the game. These cookies contain no
personal information and are not used for advertising. You can delete or block them in your
browser settings, but logging into the game may then no longer work.
5.2 Usage statistics
To understand how the game is used and to improve it, we may use Matomo, an open-source analytics
tool hosted on our own servers. When enabled, the collected statistics
(pages visited, time of the visit, browser type) stay on our infrastructure and are not shared with
third parties or used for advertising profiling.
6. Sharing with third parties
We do not sell, rent or share your personal data with third parties, and we do not use advertising
networks. Data may only be disclosed where we are legally required to do so (for example at the
request of competent authorities). Links to external sites (such as our Facebook page or the
Google Play Store) lead to services outside our control, which are governed by their own privacy
policies.
7. Account deletion and retention
You can delete your account at any time from your profile settings. The deletion takes effect
three days after the request and can be cancelled within the first 24 hours. When the deletion is
completed:
- your email address is permanently erased and replaced with a placeholder;
- all IP addresses linked to your account (current, last and historical) are erased;
- the technical anti-cheat identifier and your password are erased, so the account can no longer be accessed.
To preserve the integrity of the ongoing game world, the account itself is not removed from the
game: it remains as an inactive player, with its username, villages and game history, but it is no
longer linked to any personal data and can no longer be used to identify you.
Accounts banned for serious violations of the rules are processed in the same way after five days.
8. Security
We protect your data with appropriate technical measures: all connections to BabylonGame services
are encrypted (HTTPS), passwords are never stored in plain text, and access to personal data is
restricted to the administrators of the game, only for the purposes described in this policy.
9. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you and obtain a copy of it;
- have inaccurate data corrected (you can change your email address yourself in your profile);
- have your data erased (see section 7);
- restrict or object to the processing of your data, including at any time to promotional
emails and to the recording of their opens (via the unsubscribe link or by contacting us);
- receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format (data portability);
- lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.
To exercise your rights, contact us using the details in section 1. Since the only way we can
identify you is your email address, please write from the email address linked to your account and
indicate your username and game server.
10. Changes to this Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy was last updated on 29th October 2026. We may update it to reflect changes to
BabylonGame services or to legal requirements; the current version is always available on this page.
